Feather WaterFall Braid:

Things Needed:

  • Brush
  • Rat-Tail Comb
  • 1 Hair Elastic

Step-By-Step Tutorial:

  • Near the front of the part line, a small portion of hair is picked up and divided into 3 hair strands.
  • By creating one stitch, begin a regular 3-stranded braid.
  • Only to the top strand, some hair is added. Unlike a usual French/Dutch braid in which both sides are added with hair, hair is added to only 1 side of the braid in case of Lace braid.
  • After adding hair to the top strand, that piece of hair is crossed over the middle hair strand.
  • Before crossing this strand over the middle, a tiny hair section is pulled off the bottom hair strand of braid. It is termed as a traditional Feather Braid as the tiny hair pieces fall off the braid in the form of feathers with its spines.
  • To the top hair strand, hair is continued to adding up. From the bottom hair strands, tiny hair sections are also removed.
  • Stop adding and removing hair when the opposite ear is reached.
  • A normal braid is continued down the strand.
  • When required length of braid is achieved, secure it with hair elastic.

The Ladder Braid Combo:

The Ladder Braid Combo

Things Needed:

  • Brush
  • Rat-Tail Comb
  • 2 Hair Elastics

Step-By-Step Tutorial:

  • The first 5 feathers are taken and flip up and over the head. This is done to keep the feathers aside while you are working with the second braid of combo hairstyle.
  • 1-2 inches below the other braid, another small section of hair is picked up and begin with it to form a regular braid with one stitch.
  • From the top, hair is added in to form one more Lace Braid. Note that only the first braid will be adding to the feather strands.
  • Continue the same braiding pattern i.e. adding in a feather strand into each top strand of the Lace Braid. In this way, a Ladder Braid is created as the feather strands will produce a “rungs” on the ladder look.
  • Always try to keep these braids at least 1-2 inches apart when you braid. It will allow the ladder effect to appear more.
  • All around the head, the ladder braid is continued to create.
  • Stop adding in hair when the opposite ear is reached.
  • A normal braid is continued down the strand.
  • When required length of braid is achieved, secure it with hair elastic.
